Don't you just hate those Navaho Nazis and their big Nazi swastikas? They're all just a bunch of Indian haters. You can tell cause they like swastikas so much. Any smart white person will tell you the truth. Manwoman is an artist from Canada. He has hundreds of swastika tattoos. Someone should make him stop too. Stupid Canadians.

Oh. I get it. You're from some parallel-universe place where everyone doesn't already know that the swastika is a symbol of hate. Yeah right. On this planet they get together and worship Hitler secretly by campfire out in the desert. Only the Navahos use peyote. The Germans used beer.

Mon, July 23, 2007 - 11:50 AMGee Swaz, you are just turning this group into your own private asshole-ranting page, aren'tcha?
I don't know what prompted this one, but trying to justify your own littering of the swastika all over the place is pretty tacky.
Anyway, I'm out of here. The only "culture jam" I've seen for awhile is Swaz breaking the stereotype of bigoted lunkhead Americans being crew-cutted rednecks in pick-ups - he shows that dreadlocked wannabe-hipsters can be just as noxious. -

Re: Navaho Nazis
Tue, July 24, 2007 - 6:53 AMyeah, this all has about as much to do with culture jamming as making "radical alternative cool (r)evolutionary" commercials for MTV or Pepsi does. You might as well consider a three year old having a tantrum in a mall to be culture jamming if this is how low the bar is set around here *politely holds door open for Kelly then leaves herself* -

Kelly may be interested to know that I've changed my whole take on Navahos and Nazis. I am NOW certain that the BIGGEST haters out there are the racist practitioners of "Falun Gong" in China. Why do you think the Chinese authorities are trying so hard to supress them? Oh they use a big swastika as their hate-symbol BTW.

Do you want to insult my avatar? It's a painting of the stage & silent screen actress Alla Nazimova
www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi
she did take the name Nazimova in 1889 ~ long before the Nazis attempt to make the swastika unpopular ~ but I'm sure her first name ~ Alla ~ was offensive to some group of people at the time.......
she had some *style* :)

Don't mean to burst your bubble but Hitler was born April 20th of that year. Strange coincidence? I'll check her out though. Can't argue with the name at all! -

Mon, July 23, 2007 - 6:25 PMOh! I'm into 'coincidences' ~ only I call them 'synchronicities' :)

if you had bothered to check out Alla Nazimova's links ~ you would have found that she was a woman far ahead of these culture jamming times ~ she was pretty much single handedly workin' it ~ when she wasn't hanging with Emma Goldman, Isadora Duncan, Mata Hari & the Marx Brothers......

Venessa Redgrave played Duncan in a great film about 30 years ago. She was the progenitor of "modern dance" She was the first to roll-around on the stage which was something the Europeans thought was vulgar. Wierd death too. She had a long scarf that was trailing in the wind and it got caught in the back wheel of a car and broke her neck. Dead at 40. Funny I remember this stuff. I'm a trivia machine.
Incidentally she was blacklisted around that time. She pissed off every Jew in Hollywood because of her pro-palestinian activities. So I guess this IS on topic. She was sort of a Nazi at the time, at least in the minds of the people she was pissing off.

Re: Navaho Nazis
Thu, August 2, 2007 - 7:30 PMIn Navajo culture this is the "whirling log" a symbol of continuity, much like the yin-yang symbol. this symbol had been used by the Navajo long before it was appropriated by the Nazi in the early 1900s. This same sybol is also used by Hindu, Buddhist and Jains.
Please, do stop this spread of inaccuracies. A little education goes a long way. -

I can't help myself. I'm trying to make you think by throwing-out moronic statements that are made quite frequently by people who have no clue about anything.
.....Pssst! This is Culture Jamming Tribe. Don't tell anyone. -
-
Re: Navaho Nazis
Thu, August 2, 2007 - 8:27 PMhow about simply "informing people" rather than 'throwing-out moronic statements"?
I sense that you may have realized that you'd made an idiotic statement revealing your vast ignorance and are now doing a bit of back-tracking. I have come across and read your postings through out tribe and there is this thread of hate mongering in those posts.
Culture jamming is not the forum for this, so I drop this here. Good luck and peace to you. -

Well think what you like but you obviously have no clue about culture jamming. And the Navahos are much more of a culture than smoking-culture or drinking-culture of who's billboards are frequently targeted for jamming grafitti.

Re: Navaho Nazis
Fri, August 3, 2007 - 3:48 PM"Adbusters isn't so bad."
no neither is burning man (in fact burning mans an awesome party), but when you begin to be defined by something of that nature (think Peta and all those dick wad vegans that it would feel so good to run over with a car), it tends to be at the cost of your own individuality.
PS I think I saw a shirt some where on tribe that summed it up pretty well, and basically said "your rebellion is my marketing campaign" -

Ha! You probably saw that on my tribe blog page. (I also link to the site where you can buy the shirt, as well.)
And, in regards to the original thrust of this page, acting like a self-important jackass isn't culture jamming. It's just being a jackass. -

Re: Navaho Nazis
Sun, August 12, 2007 - 5:02 PMThis I think most people who find and/or join this tribe are seeking further knowledge or awareness, chances are their critical evaluative functions are probably working. That aside, isn't rather presumptive to think that you are "naturally" immune from bad information and ohers are not. Sounds like some people are a bit righteous and elistist.

Re: Navaho Nazis
Sun, October 28, 2007 - 11:11 AMcool jail, all the sex you want for free....
the Nazi's appropriated from all over the place - especially the Romans - the Eagle standard the legions used to carry - the term "Fascista" itself, the list goes on and on..
It's interesting because my theory is that conquerors at the end of the day are often motivated through their cultural vision - they somehow believe that their "culture" is superior and should be shared/imposed on the rest of the world. It's a very common thread. -

Re: Navaho Nazis
Mon, October 29, 2007 - 9:02 AMgot me thinking about the meiji restoration of imperial japan. thousands of 'cultural envoys' were sent out to the western hemisphere to bring back 'the best of the best' ways of doing things. kind of a meta process improvement ideal in the post-shogun age. -
